3 February – 28 February

Summer exhibition – includes works by Ian Fairweather, Tim Storrier, Margaret Olley, Jeffrey Smart, Sam Fullbrook, Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams and Garry Shead.

 

3 March – 28 March

Stewart Macfarlane – An exhibition of Macfarlane’s darkly humorous paintings. His new body of ambiguously narrative works is influenced by his recent scholarship residency in New Mexico.

 

31 March – 25 April

William Robinson – An exhibition of landscape paintings from one of Australia’s most celebrated living artists. Robinson’s new works depict the rainforests, coastal regions and mountain ranges of northern New South Wales.

 

28 April – 23 May

Robert Brownhall – Following a successful sellout debut exhibition in 2007, Brownhall returns with an exhibition of new paintings. His works depict urban scenes of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with an emphasis on light and form.


26 May – 20 June

Philip Wolfhagen – The debut exhibition at the gallery of the celebrated landscape painter. A former winner of the Wynne prize, Wolfhagen’s works depicts the emotive qualities of the Tasmanian pastoral landscape.

 

23 June – 18 July

Peter Churcher – An exhibition of new works by leading figurative painter Peter Churcher. The paintings include street scenes and figures completed during the artist’s continuing residency in Spain.

 

Lisa Adams – Following the inclusion of the artist’s work in the Queensland Art Gallery’s ‘Optimism’ exhibition in 2008, Adams presents a long awaited exhibition of her meticulously detailed, surrealist inspired paintings.

 

21 July – 15 August

Nickolaus Seffrin - An exhibition of new sculptures. Seffrin’s forms depict the athletic human body in works constructed of unique chrome coated mild steel with applied bronze.

 

John Honeywill - An exhibition of paintings and watercolours by the Brisbane based artist. Honeywill’s new works depict landscape scenes encountered on the artist’s travels through Spain and unique still life arrangements of everyday objects.

 

18 August – 12 September

Ray Crooke - the renowned Queensland artist presents an exhibition of new paintings. Crooke’s works depict the idyllic islander communities of the South Pacific, with an emphasis on colour and the effects of light and shade.

 

Tony White - The gallery presents a selection of new pieces by the prominent Sydney jeweler.


15 September – 10 October

Peter AndersonAn exhibition of new paintings by the popular Brisbane artist. Anderson’s paintings depict the islands and oceans of the Pacific and more recently the dramatic waters of the Antarctic.


27  October – 21 November

John Young - The Melbourne based artist presents his debut exhibition at Philip Bacon Galleries. Young’s landscape and interior scenes are overlaid with painted images of photographs, creating detailed and layered works.

 

24 November – 19 December

 

Nicholas Harding  - The former Archibald prize winner presents an exhibition of new works. Harding’s beach scenes and floral subjects are painted in his recognizable and unique heavily impasted style.
